County To Study Bus Stop Needs At New Shopping Center
The town supervisor says getting from the closest available bus stop is not safe.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — Whether a bus stop at the new Rivertowns Square shopping center is needed will be assessed by Westchester County. A spokesman for County Executive Robert Astorino said transportation professionals are working on safety and logistics with the developer and the Bee Line bus service.
The closest stop now is about a half mile away at the end of a street that has no lighting or sidewalks, the Journal News said. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
In a letter to the editor, Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said it was a hazard for the shopping center employees to walk along Lawrence Street and to cross the Saw Mill River Parkway.

He said the shopping center and the adjacent businesses “already employ residents of Westchester, and surrounding areas, who are dependent on public transportation, and that need will grow larger with the impending opening of both a food market and a hotel.”
Feiner also said that public transportation should be available for a major shopping center, not just for the employees, but “also for the resident who may wish to shop there.”
