CT Woman Arrested After 1-Car Crash In Irvington

Her passenger received non-life-threatening injuries.

IRVINGTON, NY — Irvington police arrested a Connecticut woman after a one-car motor vehicle accident that caused injuries. Police said that they responded around 3:20 p.m. April 25 to 3 Riverview Rd. for a report of the crash.

When they got there, they found a 2013 Nissan Rouge that had driven through a steel guardrail and continued onto the property.

The driver of the car — Sonia M. Minchala-Juanacio, 29, of James Street in Danbury — was taken into custody for misdemeanor driving while intoxicate.

Minchala-Juanacio and her passenger were taken to Westchester County Medical Center by ambulance; the former for evaluation, the latter for non-life-threatening injuries.

Minchala-Juanacio was released from the hospital several hours later and was taken to the Irvington Police Headquarters for processing. Her passenger remained hospitalized.

In addition to the DWI, she was charged with:

  • Refusal to take a breath test
  • Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to stop at a stop sign
  • Fail to stay in designated lane

Irvington police are waiting for results of a blood test to determine Minchala-Juanacio’s blood alcohol content.

She was arraigned and released on $500 bail pending her next court appearance May 7.
