Day Boat Cafe Introduces Prix-fixe Lunch and Dinner, Happy-Hour Menus

New fall/winter menus debuts at Irvington seafood restaurant.

Thehas introduced three new menus: a $26 prix-fixe, three-course dinner menu, a $16 prix-fixe lunch menu (also three courses) and a happy hour bar menu.

The Irvington restaurant, which opened on March 5, 2010, has won considerable acclaim for its innovative seafood dishes and architectural/decorative distinctions.

The latter includes a 16-stool-long glittering marble bar, black-and-white striped upholstery  coordinated with black-and-white tile floors, spirited photographs of fierce ocean waves and even a port-windowed wall leading to the rest rooms.

But the main structural attraction at this restaurant is its stunning ceiling sculpture of 40 perfectly parallel pairs of angled oars that overhang the main dining area.

The new Day Boat Cafe prix-fixe dinner menu is available from Sunday through Thursday and it supplements the current a la carte menu; it does not replace it. Lobster pot pie and lobster roll can still be ordered from the regular menu as well as the chowder sampling trio of tasty cups of New England clam, lobster, and Manhattan clam or corn chowder.

The new fall/winter prix-fixe dinner menu offers four choices for the starter course: Caesar salad, mixed greens salad, New England clam chowder or Manhattan clam chowder. The five main course selections are:

  • Grilled Mediterranean snapper with broccoli, lemon and extra virgin oil
  • Grilled Atlantic salmon (line caught) with corn and tomato basil succotash

Apple cobbler, Ronnybrook Farm ice cream and creme brulee are the choices for dessert.

The prix-fixe lunch menu is available Monday through Friday; it provides the same four appetizer choices that appear on the prix-fixe dinner menu plus one of the entrees - grilled Atlantic salmon.

Also available as luncheon main courses are lobster ravioli, linguine with mussels and clams or field greens with a choice of tuna, chicken or salmon. Apple cobbler or creme brulee can be ordered for dessert.

Owner/partner Gus Panopoulus said that five-dollar "bar bites" are accompanied by beer at half price during Happy Hour (from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday). Oysters are discounted by 50 percent as well.

The bar menu includes a crab cake and tuna slider duo, popcorn shrimp with Maytag blue cheese tasting sauce, deep-fried lamb sausage, calamari glazed with Thai chile sauce, and fried Wasabi tempura tuna pops.
