Dobbs Ferry Resident Starts Book Fire During Finals

The two men are students at SUNY Geneseo.

Two college students, one of whom is a Dobbs Ferry resident, were ticketed by police during finals week for starting a book fire.

According to an article in the Genesee Sun, Michael Taussig, 22, of Dobbs Ferry, and Mitchell Gillard, 21, of Elba, were ticketed for open burning, a violation.

Police said the SUNY Geneseo students allegedly started an open book and trash fire near their Court Street house and started a second fire after firefighters had responded.

No one was hurt in the incidents, but the small blaze was considered a hazard due to the proximity to the building.
