Doubledays to Host Fundraiser for Fire Victims
There will be a fundraiser at Doubledays on Saturday to raise money for a local family whose home was damaged in a fire.
Last week, Graziella Amendola's Dobbs Ferry town housethat broke out on the bottom floor and spread all the way to the attic.
She, her husband Ron Moncaldo, and her son Anthony Tompkins all escaped uninjured, but their home was rendered uninhabitable. They have since been staying with Amendola's grandparents, who also live in Dobbs Ferry.
Longtime residents of the village, Amendola and Moncaldo have many friends—good friends—who wanted to help them return to their home as quickly as possible.

"I went to the house the day after it happened," said Dobbs Ferry resident Brian McMillan. Shocked by what he saw, McMillan went to the home of another friend, Anthony Lifiera, and began planning a fundraiser.
On Saturday at 8 p.m., in Dobbs Ferry will host the event, offering food, drinks and entertainment. Admissions is $50, and—except for the cost of food—all proceeds will go to Amendola and Moncaldo.

"We don't know exactly how much it will cost to fix the house, but we're thinking it's around 40 percent of the home's value," McMillan said.
Doubledays will also install a drop box for gifts and other items to send to the family and hold a 50/50 raffle. The event is open to the public, and McMillan encourages all who can to attend.
Editor's note:
Dobbs Ferry Fire Chief Frank Farrington advises all homeowners, especially residents of Amendola's complex on Manor House Lane, to have their heating units serviced and inspected regularly. This can significantly reduce the risk of devastating fires.
