Dows Lane Students Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

IRVINGTON, NY — Dows Lane Elementary School students did their part to make a positive difference in the world by supporting children in need by raising $1,957.66 for the United Nations Children’s Fund this year.
Under the leadership of teachers Susan Buck and Diane Kiernan, the students began collecting money on Halloween using Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes, according to a district spokesman. Third-graders volunteered during their recess to sort the coins and count the money they collected from their peers.
“We collected during the first week of November and then counted hundreds of boxes filled with coins,” Principal Deborah Mariniello said. “We are so proud of our Dows Lane students and thank the community for its generosity.”
