Drunk Wrong-Way Driver On The NY Thruway Monday: Cops
His blood alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit, state police said.

ARDSLEY, NY – After getting a report at 2:39 a.m. Monday of a possible wrong way driver on I-87, police checked the Thruway and indeed found a man driving the wrong way. They concluded during their interview of the driver of the vehicle that Aldrin R. Gastelu Chuquihuac, 47, of White Plains, NY, was intoxicated.
He was transported and processed at SP Tarrytown, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be .22 percent. He was charged with:
- Driving While Intoxicated; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or more; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
- Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree; a class A Misdemeanor
- Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Gastelu Chuquihuac was issued an appearance ticket and multiple traffic tickets and released to a sober third party. A return court date of Oct. 15 in the Village of Ardsley Court has been set. No injuries reported.
