Editor's Notebook: New Look, New Name

Hastings-Dobbs Ferry Patch proudly becomes Rivertowns Patch.

On the heels of breaking news in Irvington, Hastings-Dobbs Ferry Patch officially welcomes our new name today: Rivertowns Patch.

Since we launched in May, I have worked to cover Irvington with as much enthusiasm and precision as I have Hastings and Dobbs Ferry, yet I still heard consistently from readers, "Please put Irvington in the name."

You were right!

It did not do Irvington justice to cover its government, art exhibits, police activity, sports, schools and events on a news site whose masthead could only fit Hastings and Dobbs Ferry. Nothing else will change now that we're calling the site Rivertowns Patch, and you will still be able to access the site using the former URL: hastings.patch.com.  But the new official web address will be:  rivertowns.patch.com.

Of course the next natural question to ask is, "Well, what about Ardsley?"

As a life-long Ardsleyn myself, I know Ardsley is indeed a "Rivertown" despite not technically being a town on the river—or even a town at all.  And although I won't be covering my "home village" immediately, Ardsley may over time be incorporated into this site.

As always, please continue to post your announcements, comments and feedback on the site or e-mail me with ideas or concerns at: elizabeth@patch.com.
