A message from the Irvington farmers market director, Pascale Le Draoulec:

Find out what's happening in Rivertownsfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

"I'm very excited to introduce a new vendor: Gaia's Breath Farm located on "265 acres of pure organic bliss between the Catskill and Adirondack mountain ranges." They are a certified organic farm that raises sheep, cattle, chicken and pigs and grow a small amount of vegetables.
This week, they will be offering various cuts  of lamb, pork and veal as well as some charcuterie products, herbed veal sausage and chicken sausage with spiced date/fig compote. They will also have beets turnips and rutabaga!

(check out this great  "smashed" rutabaga recipe from Bon Appetit: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Smashed-Rutabagas-with-Ginger-Roasted-Pears-240414).

PLEASE, PLEASE support this vendor so that they come back - and maybe join us in the summer. How lovely would it be to have fresh organic lamb, veal, beef and pork, in addition to fresh fish every week? You can read more about them at gaiasbreathfarm.com

Just because it's snowing outside doesn't mean you can't indulge in some locally-grown crisp local lettuces, Swiss chard and gorgeous heads of purple cauliflower.  Thanks to their greenhouses, Madura Farms will bringing all of this and much more.

Dutch Desserts will also be there so you can snag a few tarts for the season to put in your freezer (they freeze remarkably well) as do the Panzarella crab cakes...

Come stock up on soups, pickles and cheese for the month and grab some Indian food or rotisserie chicken for dinner while you're at it. Chutney Masala and Mr. G's will both be there...
Hope to see you at the Market!

Don't forget to mark your calendars so you never miss a market."
