Greenburgh library program suicide prevention training

September 18

In observance of National Suicide Prevention Month, I invite you to join others at the Greenburgh Public Library for Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Community Suicide Prevention Training on Wednesday, September 18 from 6:30-8 PM. QPR training is a practical, evidence-based approach to learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, engage with someone who is in crisis, and refer them to appropriate professional help.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to appropriate professional help. This particular "Gatekeeper" training delivered by Greater Mental Health of New York is designed for the general public ages 16 years and older to navigate a conversation with someone in crisis, whether in our family, school, or community. We never know when we might need them, but these skills have the power to save a life!.

A big thank you to the Greenburgh Library and Mental Health of New York for organizing this forum. This event can save lives!
