Hastings High Music Students Return from Festival with Trophies

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY - Seven Hastings High School Music Department ensembles returned from a recent festival with top honors.

According to information provided by the school, the Band, Chorus, Jazz Ensemblee, Madrigals, Orchestra, Steel Drum Ensemble and String Sinfonia all received ratings of Gold at the WorldStrides OnStage Philadelphia Heritage Festival.

In addition, seven trophies were earned:

• Adjudicator’s Award—Jazz Ensemble, Steel Drum Ensemble and String Sinfoina
• Outstanding Orchestral Group—String Sinfonia
• Outstanding Choral Group—Chorus
• Choral Sweepstakes—Choral program
• Festival Sweepstakes—Entire HHS Music Department

Four students also received individual trophies:

• Ovation Award—Kat Berman
• Maestro Award—Simon Brea, Evangeline May and Lucy Wijnands

Wijnands sang a solo for the Jazz Ensemble’s adjudication and was nominated for a Maestro Award by the instrumental judges as well as the choral judges.
