Hastings Man Arrested for Robbery, Cocaine Possession

The incident occurred on Feb. 7.

Charles Beekman, 45, of Hastings was arrested at John’s Bar & Grill this week on charges of robbery and criminal contempt, police said.

According to police, Beekman violated an order of protection his girlfriend had been issued against him. The defendant allegedly went to see the woman and forcibly stole property from her.

During a post-arrest search, a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine was found in the defendant’s jacket pocket, and the charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, was added to the two felonies with which he had already been charged.

Assistant District Attorney Virginia Marciano was contacted and advised no bail. The defendant was transported to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla and returned to court on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
