Hastings Police Beat June 8-14: Public Lewdness, Squirrelly Break-In and 100 Stolen Rubber Ducks

A list of incidents reported by the Hastings-on-Hudson Police from June 8-14.

June 8

Assault at Graham

11:19 a.m. A 21-year-old resident of the Graham School was arrested for criminal mischief and harassment after reportedly threatening a female staff member.  The man grabbed the staff member's wrist and said he would, "pick her up and throw her down," in an attempt forcibly to steal her watch. The man then broke a window at Einger Cottage.

June 9

Juvenile Dial-linquency

4:54 p.m. A 911 call from Williams Street was returned to find that a young child was only playing with the phone. 

Assault and Public Lewdness

6:00 p.m. After an investigation by Hastings Police, a 16-year-old Graham School resident appeared in court on a criminal summons signed by Judge Joseph DiSalvo for assault and public lewdness.  Police were called after the man reportedly punched a staff member in the back of the neck with a closed fist.

June 10

The Caller Who Cried Dog

12:35 a.m. A caller on South Broadway reported that a neighbor's dogs had been left outside barking and did not believe the owner was home.  Police patrolled the area, but found all was quite upon arrival. Police checked back with the caller, who reported not to have heard the dogs since.

A Squirrelly Break-In

11:56a.m. A resident of Villard Avenue called to report a squirrel in his house.  Animal Control was called to the scene and soon reported to police the unwanted houseguest had been evicted.  

June 11

Noise Complaint at River Roadhouse

2:00 a.m. A caller on Warburton Avenue requested the bar's doors be closed due to loud music. Bar staff complied and no further complaints were made.

Resourceful Babysitter Causes Considerable Unease

8:59 p.m. A caller on Farragut Avenue reported she had just returned home to find a ladder leading to an open window on her residence.  Police were worried another burglary had taken place, but upon further investigation discovered the caller's babysitter had locked herself out of the house and used the latter to re-enter.  All parties were very relieved.

June 12

Ducky Larceny

3:45 p.m. A 21-year-old Hastings resident is currently being held on $7,500 bail at Westchester County Jail after stealing: a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle, 24 videogame discs, two backpacks, assorted clothing and 100 rubber ducks from the James Harmon Community Center.  A caller on Main Street reported her granddaughter had seen the woman run from the Community Center into an alleyway.  Police apprehended her, arresting the woman at the Hastings Police Station, and taking her to be arraigned at the Ardsley Village Justice Court.  She was charged with burglary in the third-degree, which is a felony.
