Hastings School District Selects New Superintendent
The winner was picked from 50 applicants and five finalists.
HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — A new superintendent has been appointed to take over leadership of the Hastings-on-Hudson school district. Tony Sinanis, now the assistant superintendent for curriculum at the Plainedge district on Long Island, will become superintendent July 1.
Sinanis succeeds Roy Montesano who will become the new Bronxville schools superintendent.
School officials said there were 50 applicants and five finalists in the selection process.

Sinanis received the 2014 New York State Elementary Principal of the Year Award and the national 2013 Bammy Award for Elementary School Principal of the Year.

He received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied how social media supports the professional development practices of school principals.
Sinanis lives in Westchester County with his partner, who is also a school principal, and his 12-year-old son.
