Hastings Teen Gives Up iPhone for Flip Phone--Wait? What?

What happens when you break your iPhone?

If you are a Hastings teen, you write about it and get it published in Seventeen magazine.

Janey Litvin mourned the loss of her smartphone, but then decided a purple flip phone would be the perfect replacement, she wrote for the magazine.

The article is titled “I Traded My iPhone for a Flip Phone and I’ve Never Been Happier.”

Among Litvin’s observations:

• It was a relief to not have hundreds of messages every day.
• If she’s walking down the street, she is not tempted to scroll through Facebook.
• She uses a paper map for directions instead of Google Maps.
• She wonders if her generation should make an effort to unplug sometimes.
