Irvington To Have Increased Police Presence At Schools
A threatening statement was found to not be credible, police said.
IRVINGTON, NY — A statement threatening doing harm on school grounds was investigated by the Irvington Police Department. According to a letter to the community on the Irvington school district website, district and school administration officials were notified Thursday that a student reportedly made the threatening statement directed specifically at the middle school and high school campus.
The police determined that the threat was not credible and there was no risk to public safety.
"The safety of our students and staff are the district's top priority," the district's letter said. "Please know that the Irvington School district takes situations such as this one seriously and will take necessary steps, including appropriate discipline, to provide a safe learning environment."
