Irvington High School Senior Signs Letter Of Intent
She was recently named Con Edison's Westchester Scholar Athlete of the Week.

IRVINGTON, NY — Zoe Maxwell, an Irvington High School senior and soccer player, announced her commitment to play soccer at Brown University in the fall during a ceremonial letter of intent signing Feb. 13. Joined by administrators, coaches, her teammates and parents, Maxwell was recognized for her contributions to the school community.
“She is one of the top scholar-athletes to come out of Irvington High School,” Athletic Director Artie McCormack said. “A very accomplished and decorated athlete, Zoe is also one of the nicest and classiest students we have ever had.”
Last fall, Maxwell became the first student-athlete among the boys and girls soccer teams at Irvington High School to reach the 100th-goal milestone in recent history, according to a district spokesman. She has also excelled in winter and spring track and field at the high school and holds numerous titles and honors. On Feb. 12, she captured the winning title for the triple jump and 55-meter dash, placed second in the 300-meter run and helped her team capture second place in the Class C Sectional Championship.

“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have coached Zoe Maxwell,” said Patrick DiBenedetto, the head coach of the girls soccer team. “She truly embodies the characteristics of a complete student-athlete. She is a confident and fearless competitor, a teammate and a leader, all balanced with the elegance of a humble spirit and academic excellence. I look forward to following her soccer career at Brown University.”
Maxwell was recently named Con Edison’s Westchester Scholar Athlete of the Week, when she was recognized for her athletic and academic achievements by a panel of athletic directors and coaches. She has also received All-League and League MVP honors, as well as All-Section, All-State Class B Player of the Year and All-American honors.

In addition to her dedication on the field, Maxwell has been taking a demanding course load consisting of Advanced Placement and honors-levels classes, a spokesman said. She is a member of the Latin Club and a class representative, and was selected as a senior peer leader from a pool of 80 applicants. Outside of school, Maxwell is a Westchester Youth Soccer League referee and volunteers to provide holiday gifts for children in need.
