Irvington High School Students Receive Monthly Core Value Awards

Each month, teachers consider a different trait.

IRVINGTON, NY — Irvington High School is pleased to announce its Core Value Award winners who were chosen for exemplifying 21st century habits of mind.

Each month, teachers consider a different character trait — humor and joy, empathy, global and community view, perseverance, imagination and creativity, collaboration, leadership, responsible risk-taking and subject excellence — and select students who they feel exemplify that quality, according to a district spokesman.

Principal David Cohen and Assistant Principal Matthew Samuelson celebrated the nominees during a monthly Core Value Award ceremony that brings all of the students together for a workshop. Students have an opportunity to discuss their own interpretations of the core value, its importance in the building and the world and how they can instill in others those same qualities.
