Boys and Girls Winter Track

The winter track team had outstanding performances at the sectional championships and state qualifier meet. Zoe Maxwell was named Class B sectional champion in both the 300-meter and triple jump. Other medalists at the sectional meet included Scottie Mitchell, who placed second in the 1,600-meter; Griffin Knapp, who placed second in the 55-meter high hurdles; and Suzanne Castaneda, Nia Lee, Zoe Maxwell and Brianna Pierre, who placed second in the girls 4x200-meter relay.

At the state qualifier meet, Maxwell took second place in the 300-meter and fifth in the triple jump. Her second-place finish in the 300-meter qualified her for the state championships, which will be held on March 5 at Cornell University. Also at the state qualifier meet, Pierre took fifth place in the 55-meter.

Boys Basketball

The boys basketball team took on No. 2 seed Putnam Valley last week in the opening round of the sectionals. Looking to pull off the upset as the No. 15 seed, the team kept the game close and tied the score at 32-32 with just three minutes to play. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on Putnam Valley through an outstanding three-point shooting from Dan DeMatteo and key baskets by Thomas Wassmann, but they fell short in the end and lost 40-34.
