When did your business open? We started operating as Insurance-On-Hudson Agency in February 2017 with a small office out of my home. We officially opened in Irvington in June 2017.

How did you come up with the name? I wanted something that was catchy, familiar and easy to remember. While riding the train home from Manhattan last Fall, looking out over the Hudson, the name came to me and it just kind of stuck.

Why start a business in this town? There’s just something about the feel of Main Street. After spending a several years living and working in NYC, I was ready for a more close-knit, family friendly community with a down-to-earth feel. Those are the reasons I live in this area, raise my family in this area and opened a business here. I couldn't have found a more loyal and involved community anywhere else.

What business are you in? Insurance and financial services. I specialize in auto, home, life and business insurance products.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced starting a new business? I’ve always been a person who likes to plan and set goals. As any small business owner knows, there is always uncertainty about what lies ahead, especially during that first year. One of my most difficult challenges was dealing with the unknown. However, I really love what I do and have never looked back.

What’s one highlight you've had since opening? Just getting to know other business owners and members in the community and surrounding areas. I am fortunate to have grown much of my client base on referrals.

How does your business give back to the community? Insurance-On-Hudson just joined the Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce this year. As part of the Irvington Committee, we are working to enhance the experience of the downtown area.
