Irvington School District Appoints New Director Of Pupil Personnel Services

She currently serves as the assistant director.

IRVINGTON, NY — The Irvington School District Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Kristopher Harrison announced the appointment of Gail Krieger as the new director of pupil personnel services.

Krieger takes over the position effective July 1, 2017, according to a district spokesman.

“We are pleased to welcome Gail to her new role,” Harrison said. “Having been with the district for nearly 10 years, she brings a wealth of experience to the position and a familiarity to the Irvington family. She has continuously demonstrated passion, leadership and expertise in the field and we look forward to her work in this new capacity.”

Krieger has spent her entire career in special education and has served as chairperson of the Committee on Preschool Special Education and Committee on Special Education while in Irvington.

She said she was honored to have been chosen for the position.

“I look forward to continuing to provide the supports and partnerships that our students, teachers and staff need to succeed,” Krieger said.

During her tenure as assistant director of pupil personnel services, Krieger was instrumental in building relationships and partnerships with parents to support and provide clarity in understanding special education programs and requirements. She also worked with administrators to develop programs based on student needs, designed and provided professional development opportunities for staff members and supported the development of the special education district budget and federal grants.

Prior to that, she served as an evaluation coordinator for eight years at the Rainbow School for Child Development, as well as a speech language therapist for the New York City Department of Education for five years and Northern Westchester Center for Speech Disorders for two years.

Krieger earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pace University, a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Saint John’s University and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from The College of Saint Rose.
