Irvington School Musicians Perform at Lincoln Center

The occasion the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestras Association Spring Gala concert.

IRVINGTON, NY - Irvington Middle and High School musicians performed May 1 at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall in the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestras Association Spring Gala concert.

High school students Nora Burkhardt (violin), Sohum Gala (violin), Miles Gilbert (bass), Luke Hargraves (bass), Samantha Lapine (percussion), Swati Narayan (viola), Brandon Weinstein (viola) and Ethan Weinstein (trombone) performed with the Westchester Youth Symphony. Middle school students Taylor Lee (cello) and Eesha Thaker (violin) performed with the Westchester Junior Strings Orchestra. Reinesse Wong (violin) performed with the Westchester Elementary Strings Orchestra, according to a district spokesman.

The Greater Westchester Youth Orchestras Association, which is a nonprofit organization that helps young people develop self-esteem and promotes diversity through classical music training, is comprised of students in grades four through 12 from Westchester and surrounding counties in the tri-state area. It consists of three orchestras, the Westchester Elementary Strings Orchestra, Westchester Junior Strings Orchestra and the Westchester Youth Symphony.

The Westchester Youth Symphony is a full orchestra that includes string players, wind, brass and percussion students who have demonstrated advanced ability and musicality.
