Irvington Student Athletes, Coaches Recognized for Successful Fall Season

The recognition ranges from player of the year to All-State honors.

IRVINGTON, NY — Five Irvington High School students and two of the school's soccer coaches were recognized for their achievements during the fall season.

Girls soccer team’s Zoe Maxwell, a junior, was named first-team All-State Class B, Section One Class B Player of the Year, League MVP and Rivertowns Enterprise Player of the Year. Maxwell won the prestigious award of All-State for the second year in a row, according to a district spokesman. Her coach, Patrick DiBenedetto, was named League Coach of the Year.

Boys soccer team’s coach Bernard Keating was named League Coach of the Year. Field hockey’s Suzanne Carroll, a senior, was named Rivertowns Enterprise Player of the Year. She also received All-League honors and All-Elite honorable mention.

Cross-country team member Scottie Mitchell, a senior, earned the first-team All-State honors in Class C, as well as All-Section honors and Rivertowns Enterprise Player of the Year. His teammate Aidan Denahy, a senior, earned the fourth-team All-State honors in Class C.

Football player Donnell Holifield, a senior, was recognized with the Section I, 12th-Man Award for his hard work and dedication to his team after overcoming his impairment with cochlear implants in both ears.
