Justice In Assault And Robbery Of 75-Year-Old In Alleyway

YONKERS, NY — A Westchester man who preyed on an elderly victim will now spend years behind bars.

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that 51-year-old Vladimir Puentes, of Yonkers, was sentenced on Tuesday to 12 years in state prison.

For first-degree robbery, he was sentenced to 12 years in state prison plus five years post-release supervision. For second-degree robbery, Puentes was sentenced to 12 years in state prison plus five years post-release supervision. For second-degree assault, he was sentenced to seven years in state prison plus 5 years post-release supervision.

The sentences will run concurrently with each other.

On July 1, 2024, Puentes assaulted and robbed a 75-year-old Yonkers man in an alleyway off of Riverdale Ave., near Radford St.

An investigation by the Yonkers Police Department led to his arrest.

"Protecting our most vulnerable community members, particularly the elderly, is paramount to the Westchester County Districts Attorney’s Office," DA Cacace said. "We hope that this strong sentence will serve as a warning that violence directed at our seniors will not be tolerated."

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Alexander Shapiro and Rachel Ehrhardt.
