Kiddie Coaster Derails In Dobbs Ferry, 5-Year-Old On Ride Uninjured

4th of July celebrations turned frantic when a carnival ride malfunctioned, sending first responders scrambling to stabilize the attraction.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — The abrupt end to a ride on a kiddie coaster had a happy ending after some tense moments.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corp was notified by the Dobbs Ferry Police Department about a "derailment" of a kiddie roller coaster at the Hudson River waterfront park where 4th of July celebrations were taking place.

Three Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corp crews were already stationed at the waterfront park, and responded along with DFPD and DFFD, who arrived within minutes.

The first on the scene encountered one five-year-old patient. The medics assessed the child and released the uninjured child at the scene.
