Letter to the Editor: Praise for Dobbs Ferry School District
District officials have not abandoned continuing education programs in the Rivertowns community.

To the Editor:
Earlier this year I received some complaints from area residents about the decision of Westchester Community College to discontinue their continuing education program. The college had taken over the very popular and well run Inter-Village Continuing Education program that Helen Anbinder of Dobbs Ferry set up years ago. I am writing this letter to congratulate the Dobbs Ferry School district for not giving up on continuing education. They are sponsoring a Hudson River Community Education program that is offered to residents of the entire river villages (even to those who don’t live in Dobbs Ferry). Sylvia Fassler-Wallach is doing an outstanding job offering members of the community with a terrific range of life long learn opportunity classes - ranging from art, music, dance, health, fitness, cooking, technology, social media and much more. I interviewed Sylvia Fassler-Wallach and Dobbs Ferry School Superintendent Lisa Brady on my WVOX radio program recently and was impressed with the quality of the instructors and class offerings. If you are planning to spend April in Paris you can sign up for a course in French for beginners. If you love history- take the course: History of Islam. Want to relax? Take a ballroom dancing course. Driver’s education is offered as is a class on the art of making piñatas or stained glass making. Call 693 1500 X3148 for more info.
I hope all the school districts will actively participate in promoting the classes in their mailings to the community. And, also want to encourage residents to also say thank you to the Dobbs Ferry school leadership on making continuing education possible.
