Letter To The Editor: Rivertowns Square Needs A Bus Stop

To the Editor:

On Saturday I had the opportunity to go to Rivertowns Square in Dobbs Ferry. While waiting for the light (before I crossed the Saw Mill River Parkway) I saw a man standing in the middle of the parkway -with cars driving on both sides of him. It was scary.

I took videos which I emailed the Dobbs Ferry manager and County Executive. I'm also writing to the owners of Rivertowns Square.

This highlights the need for a bus stop inside the Rivertowns Square. I have been pushing for a bus stop since the complex opened. It's very dangerous.

Greenburgh has experienced 5 pedestrian accidents in recent weeks- one fatality. In Dobbs Ferry there was a fatal accident this summer.

I hope we can be proactive and avoid an accident involving a pedestrian trying to cross the Saw Mill River Parkway to and from Rivertowns Square. I drive on the Saw Mill River Parkway many times --and have seen similar examples. Because I was at a stop light when I saw the pedestrian standing in the middle of the parkway - I was able to take a video which is attached.

The Rivertowns Square is a major shopping area in Greenburgh- with restaurants, a hotel, apartments, fitness center, A movie theater recently closed and a supermarket also closed earlier this year.

Because many of the employees don't drive and take the bus - they have to cross the Saw Mill River Parkway and walk to Saw Mill River Road. It's very, very dangerous.

We need a bus stop inside the Rivertowns Square complex.
