Dr. Parul Shukla, one of the health leaders from across Westchester County highlighted the importance of early detection and preventive care. He indicated that 45 years old or older, or younger with a family history, shouldn't wait to get screened. A simple screening could save your life. Dr. Shukla recommends healthy lifestyle habits, physical activity, consume fiber, water, vegetables, fruits and less process foods. When Colorectal Cancer is detected in early stage is curable, do not miss or postpone your medical appointment for screening. People need to recognize the importance of being screening for colorectal cancer. there are free screening test/ resources in the community for people with no health insurance. According to Dr. Shukla there are no symptoms for Colorectal Cancer, once there is abdominal pain and bleeding stool present, it might be concerning. However, if you experience any changes in bowel habits, constipation, diarrhea, visit your Primary Care Physician.
" Colorectal Cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., but it is also one of the most preventable and treateble ---if caught early. But a Screening or a base stool test can save your life."
