Baseball

In the 2nd game of two at home with Hamline on the 10th, Kiyoto Gomi (Ardsley '08) started, went 2.0 innings, gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, fanned 1, hit one batter, but did not figure in the won-lost stats. At first base in the opener, he was 0-3 and made 6 putouts at his position. Carleton is now 7-14:2-6.

In his most recent appearance on the mound for Brandeis, at Worcester State on the 11th, Mike Swerdloff (Ardsley '09) pitched 7.0 innings, during which he gave up 4 runs, 7 hits, and fanned 3 batters. His reliever was charged with the 6-5 loss, and the record is now 24-9: 2-4.

In a 7-5 win over Brandeis on the 12th, shortstop Alex Pezzuto (Hastings '10) batted 1-3, scored a  run, walked and fanned once each, and mad 3 putouts, with the record now 19-10.

The Cortland Red Dragons topped St. Joe's of Patchogue on the 12th, 8-3, with Andrew Pezzuto (Hastings '07) pinch hitting and then patrolling left field, where he went 0-2, fanned once, and made 1 put out, with the record standing at 19-7:1-7.

In a 9-6 loss to Adelphi on the 11th, center fielder Chris Roemer (Ardsley '07) of Pace scored 1 run, had 1 r.b.i., walked twice, fanned once, and made 1 error. The current record: 17-14:7-1.

DiLegge in Top 3

Mercy College women's lacrosse junior Stephanie DiLegge debuted in the Top 3 of Division II in save percentage this week, her first week eligible after having missed the first two games of the season.

Bock Honored

Mercy College baseball junior Andrew Bock was named to the ECC Honor Roll this week, his second such award of the season. The team has been exciting to watch and enjoyed several ECC honors this season, including a Pitcher of the Week and four Rookie of the Week awards.

Mercy College’s senior shortstop Jenna Ausiello (Petaluma, Calif.) and sophomore pitcher Alexandra Puglisi (Shelton, Conn.) have been selected to this week’s East Coast Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll for week six.
