Man Rescued from Hudson River While Waiting to Watch Sunrise

First responders said he was extremely happy to have been rescued.

A man ended up in the Hudson River Thursday as he tried to watch the sunrise on a piece of plywood.

A New York Fire Department official said the man was drifting on the plywood in the early morning hours for more than an hour before sunrise, according to an article at northjersey.com.

The man’s name wasn’t disclosed, but he was rescued near Governors Island, the article said.
