Marlies'Artbeat: Here's the Line-up of the 2016-2017 Opera Season for Live-at-the-MET-in HD-at-the-Movies

The 10 operas of the 2016-2017 Season for the highly popular matinee transmissions include 5 new productions and a Met premiere.

The Metropolitan Opera has announced its 10 choices for the coveted Live-at-the-Met-in-HDs, which are sent around the entire world via satellite. They include 5 new productions and a Met premiere – "L’Amour de Loin" – composed by Kaija Anneli Saariaho, who happens to be a woman. That’s extremely rare in the opera world, and more so at the Met.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, July 14th for members of The Metropolitan Opera Guild, and on July 20th 2016, for the general public.
