Masters School Teacher Quits After Sex Abuse Accusation Surfaces

The private school is bringing in a firm to investigate the accusation from decades ago.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — A former Jesuit priest resigned recently from a teaching position at the Masters School after an accusation surfaced about sexual abuse from decades ago. Robert Cornigans who had been working and living at the private school since 2004, was named in a list released Jan. 15 by the Jesuits of its members who had a credible abuse allegation against a minor or vulnerable adult since 1950.

Officials at the Masters School said it emailed parents about the news and spoke with Cornigans, who resigned immediately, the Journal News said.

The school said it was bringing in a firm to investigate the matter.
