Mercy College Accuses Former Dean Of Pilfering Students
The college said some students who had been accepted decided to go to Long Island University where the former dean now works.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — A former dean at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry is being sued by the college for theft, and it’s probably not what you think. Edward Weis, who was dean of the college’s School of Business until the end of May, is being accused of coaxing promising Mercy freshman to enroll at Long Island University, where he is vice president of academic affairs.
The lawsuit alleges Mercy lost $700,000 worth of scholarships and other expenses and that Weis exploited his access to the college’s prospective students’ information, the Journal News said.
The college said that, of 42 students who had been accepted and registered, nine of them told the college that they would be going to LIU instead.
