New Irvington High School Principal Appointed

IRVINGTON, NY — A new principal will be taking over at Irvington High School. The Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kristopher Harrison announced the appointment of Juliet L. Gevargis-Mizimakoski as principal of Irvington High School.

With 17 years of experience in education, she joins Irvington from the South Orangetown Central School District, where she served as a high school assistant principal for 11 years.

“Juliet is a compassionate, talented educator whose leadership will be an asset to Irvington High School,” Dr. Harrison said, in a prepared statement. “Her experience and passion will complement that of our high school team in providing for the best possible learning experiences for our students.”

Prior to South Orangetown, Gevargis-Mizimakoski held the position of assistant principal at Millennium Art Academy High School in the Bronx, as well as a social studies teacher at Herbert Lehman High School in the Bronx.

“It is my great privilege and honor to join the Irvington school community and serve as principal of Irvington High School,” Gevargis-Mizimakoski said. “I look forward to building upon IHS’s history of excellence through strong partnerships and collaboration with all stakeholders. Together we will support students in meeting the changing demands of today’s world.”

Gevargis-Mizimakoski earned her bachelor’s degree majoring in political science and communications, and media studies from Fordham University’s Honors Program. She earned her Master of Education degree from Fordham University. She also holds a Master of Science in administration from the College of St. Rose and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership at Manhattanville College.

She will step into the position on July 1, 2019.
