Retired Greenburgh Cop Kills Wife, Then Self: Police

He had retired from the Greenburgh Police Department in 2017.

GREENBURGH, NY — An apparent murder-suicide is under investigation in Orange County involving a former Hudson Valley police officer. Middletown police said Francis J. Pumillo, 55, shot his wife, Amanda Pumillo, 45, and then shot himself at their Vincent Drive home.

Police were called around 8 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor found the two bodies, recordonline said.

Amanda Pumillo was a nurse at Orange Regional Medical Center, and the neighbor went to check on her after finding out she hadn't reported to work.

Francis Pumillo retired as a lieutenant in July 2017 from the Greenburgh Police Department, the Journal News said.

The weapon he used in the apparent murder-suicide was legally owned, police said.
