Tennis

Andy Catania (Dobbs Ferry ’09) and his St. Olaf men's tennis team, have had an enviable record this season, and the win over Bethel College of St. Paul, Minn. on the 20th, raised the record to 12-2:5-1. He topped his singles opponent, 6-2-6-3, after which he and his doubles partner outlasted their foes, 98 (9-7).

Nazareth, hosting Elmira on the 21st, topped their guests, 7-2, with Jeremy Mancus (Irvington '09) taking his singles match, 6-2, 6-0, and then he and his partner won the doubles, 8-5.

Baseball

Alex Pezzuto (Hastings ‘10) and the Johnson & Wales had a most successful season, with a record of 25-15:13-3.

The shortstop started every game, had a batting average of .345, with 35 r.b.i.'s, walked 15 times, was hit by a pitch 8 times, and at his position had 69 putouts and 113 assists, plus 10 errors.

In a sweep of Oneonta at home on the 21st, Andrew Pezzuto (Hastings ‘07), designated hitter of Cortland, went 2-3 at the plate, scored 2 runs, walked once and fanned once in the 7-1 game, while switching to left field in the 16-2 blowout in the nightcap, he batted 1-2, scored 3 runs, walked thrice, and had 1 putout in the field.

At Bentley on the 21st, in a 9-1 win, Greg Pezzuto (Hastings '10) of Southern N.H. patrolled left field, went 1-3, scored 1 run, and drew 1 pass in the game.

On the 21st, in a season ending double header, Gary Riefenhauser (Dobbs Ferry '09) pitched 1 inning against Mt. St. Mary's giving up 1 hit and 1 free pass. His record on the campaign included an earned run average of .982, 7 appearances in relief, giving up 10 hits, 10 runs , walking 10 batters, fanning one, giving up 5 doubles, and hitting 2 batters.

At home with Bentley on the 22nd, the Pace Setters defeated the visitors, 5-3, as center fielder Chris Roemer (Ardsley '07) had a double and scored a run in the game.

Playing at first base in a winning 9-3 game at home with Augsburg on the 21st, Kiyota Gomi (Ardsley '08) scored 1 run, fanned once, and made 8 putouts at his position.
