We thank Dobbs Ferry assistant coach Brian Sepinski on the below submission detailing Eddie Ritch's decision to play at the next level at American International College:

Eddie had offers from colleges for football but wanted to pursue his true love of baseball at the next level. Coach Arone and I started helping Eddie back in the middle of August all the way to the end of February when he received his 1st college offer.

There were trips to North Carolina as well as Pennsylvania to Massachussettes. Several D1 schools were interested such as Appalachian State, Maine, UNCC and Presbyterian but after the November signing period there was not a lot of scholarship money left and minimal roster spots as walk-ons were available.

Some D1 schools were still interested in Eddie and told him if he waited until the 2012 MLB Draft spots could then possibly open up and scholarship money could be available. Eddie thought hard about it knowing Appalachian State may come calling after the draft but wanted to have some security and a program that would welcome him.

I spoke to the coach at Appy St. and the coach even told me that if Eddie had a good offer not to wait for Appy St. which to me was complete class because the coach there knew of Eddie’s potential but would not stand in the way of Eddie taking a scholarship from another program and wished him all the luck.

Eddie had a few more offers come in before deciding on taking a great offer from American International College. Eddie wanted all the college stuff over before the season started so that he could just concentrate on Dobbs Ferry Baseball and not have to press and worry about what or where he would be going after graduation.
