Rivertowns Districts OK 2019-20 Budgets

ARDSLEY, NY — Voters in the Ardsley school district approved the $72.3 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 946 to 353.

The budget was 3.66 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.75 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Voters were also asked to approve a proposition allowing the district to receive additional state aid for an energy performance contract. It was approved.

Two candidates were vying for two seats on the board of education. The winners were Frank Hariton and Nicole Minore.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — Voters in the Dobbs Ferry school district approved the $46.5 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 300 to 88.

The budget was 3.76 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.8 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Five candidates were vying for five seats on the board of education. They were Rita Kennedy, Shannon Stringer, Louis Schwartz, Jean Lucasey and Matthew Rosenberg.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — Voters in the Hastings-on-Hudson school district approved/rejected the $51.3 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 718 to 209.

The budget was 1.51 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 4.15 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Four candidates were vying for three seats on the board of education. The winners were Silvia Robles, Doug Sundheim and Alison Andrus. Also on the ballot was Nanesha Nuñez.

IRVINGTON, NY — Voters in the Irvington school district approved the $63 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 946 to 257.

The budget was 2.6 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 3.21 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Voters were also asked to approve a bond of no more than $18.9 million for alterations and improvements to district school buildings and sites. It was approved.

Three candidates were vying for two seats. The winners were David Graeber and Erin Bernstein. Also on the ballot was Ruth Friedman.
