Rivertowns College Round Up, Jan. 28-Feb. 3

Emblematic of her performances as the shooting guard during her years at Irvington High School, Lisa Bucci of Salve Regina demonstrated her skill from beyond the circle in a 71-51 over guests Curry on the 2nd, as all of her 12 points came on 4 three point baskets, plus her having 1 assist and 1 steal in 9 minutes on the court. The Seahawks ended the week with a record of 12-9:9-5.

Two Rivertowns fencers currently compete for N.Y.U., namely Audra Fox of Ardsley in foil, and Jess Sherman of Irvington in epee. At home on the 27th, the team won over 2 colleges and lost to 4. At Tufts on Feb. 2nd, Fox has a seasonal record thus have 24-11, and Sherman is 4-16, while the team's is 2-4.

At the Sean McElligot meet at Haverford on the 2nd, Julian Saliani of Johns Hopkins finished 10th of 63 entrants in the 5,000 meter run, with a time of 4:29.12.

In a 70-50 loss on the 29th at Oswego, Ryan Riefenhauser of Geneso scored 5 points, had a team high of 5 boards, and a game high of 3 steals, while hosting Brockport on the 2nd, he hit on two foul tries at the outset, but the guests wound up winning as the clock ran out, 71-70, when a Golden Eagle hit on another 2-2 at the courtesy stripe. Ryan's 10-point total came via 4-5 and 2-2, with the record now 10-4:14-7.

Clark, M.I.T., and Tufts on Feb 1st and 2nd, as the Irvington alumna took part in no less than six events in the meet. Her 200 Freestyle Relay foursome were first in their race, with a clocking of 1:43.62, while she was 8th in the 50 Freestyle, at 26.37. Morris and her quartet were 4th in the 400 Medley Relay, timed at 4:21.02, while they were 5th in the 200 M.R., clocked at 1:57.47. She was 9th in the 100 Backstroke, timed at 1:05.44, and 14th in the 100 Breaststroke, in 57.26.

At the Metropolitan Track & Field Championships at the Armory on the 25th, Sarah Moore of Manhattan finished 4th in the pole vault, with her best vault at 3.15 meters.

in a 19-17 wrestling win at home over Wesleyan on the 2nd, Derrick Longo of Springfield decisioned his opponent, 15-4, while on the 3rd, with The College of New Jersey, he dropped his match, 14-10, as they won over the Lions, 24-17. The record is 8-2. 

In her most productive college basketball game yet for the New Paltz Hawks, Pippa Mansdorf of Hastings, in 26 minutes of action, scored 8 points on 4 baskets, and was game high in rebounds, with 8, as her squad out scored guests Potsdam on the 1st, 67-47. Teammate Ashley Riefenhauser had 1 foul point and 1 board in the game. With Plattsburgh as the guests on the 2nd, the Hawks topped their guests, 72-60, to raise the record to 18-2:12-1, as Mansdorf went 3-4 at the courtesy line.

On the 27th, at Hofstra, the Columbia wrestling team lost to their hosts, 22-9, with Penn Gottfried of the visitors losing to his opponent by a 12-7 decision. Hosting Cornell on the 2nd, the Lions dropped the meet to the Big Red, 29-17, as he lost his match, 11-1. The team record is now 4-6:01:1-3 E.I.W.A.

At Hamilton on the 1st, Tara Gabelman of Connecticut College stood out for her Camels, as she scored a game high of 23 points, including the final 7 points in the contest, in thee 51-46 victory. She was 7-10 and 9-10 in scoring, and had 9 boards on the night. The team's record is now 8-12:3-5

At R.I.T. on the 1st, Kevin Dahill of Skidmore scored 4 points, had 2 boards, 2 assists, and 1 steal in the 72-53? win, while at Hobart on the 2nd, in the 65-51 loss, he scored 8 points on 3-5:2-2, plus having 1 block and 1 steal in the game, with the record now at 14-7: 8-4.
