Don't forget to vote May 21 if you live in the Rivertowns. Here's what you need to know.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — New York residents are asked to vote on their local school district’s budget and board of education May 21. Here are fast facts about the elections in Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson and Irvington.

Ardsley UFSD

Voting information

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ardsley High School.

Board of Education

Voters will electe two board of education trustees.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $72.3 million
  • Increase over current spending: 3.66 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 2.75 percent

Voters must also approval a proposition allowing the district to receive additional state aid for an energy performance contract.


Dobbs Ferry School District

Voting information

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Dobbs Ferry High School.

Board of Education

Five candidates are vying for five seats. They are Rita Kennedy, Shannon Stringer, Louis Schwartz, Jean Lucasey and Matthew Rosenberg.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $46.5 million
  • Increase over current spending: 3.76 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 2.8 percent

Hastings-on-Hudson UFSD

Voting information

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Hastings High School.

Board of Education

Four candidates are vying for three seats. They are Silvia Robles, Doug Sundheim, Alison Andrus and Nanesha Nuñez.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $51.3 million
  • Increase over current spending: 1.51 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 4.15 percent

Irvington UFSD

Voting information

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Main Street School.

Board of Education

Three candidates are vying for two seats. They are Erin Bernstein, Ruth Friedman and David Graeber.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $63 million
  • Increase over current spending: 2.6 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 3.21 percent

Voters will also be asked to approve a bond of no more than $18.9 million for alterations and improvements to district school buildings and sites.
