Roads Blocked, Homes Evacuated After Man Found Dead with Chemicals in Irvington
Police have confirmed the man is John Kelly, of Irvington.

Nearly all responders had left the scene at Osceola Avenue and Havermeyer Road Monday night at around 11:30 p.m. after a man was found dead in a Jeep parked in the wooded area with a tub of chemicals, police said.
"We were told to evacuate the area because of potentially hazardous materials," said resident Robyne Camp, who lives directly above where the scene occurred. "We smelled a sickly and horrible odor."
Police have confirmed the man is John Kelly, of Irvington—but said they had no further information. They would not say whether his death had been deemed suicide.

According to a report in the Journal News this evening, the Jeep was found with a list of the chemicals contained in the tub—warning anyone who found it to call a hazardous-materials team.
"We came home and saw four men in red suits surrounding the body," said Herb Camp. "It was like an alien invasion out of the movies."

A number of homes were evacuated on Osceola Avenue and Havermeyer Road—and even more residents were prohibited from driving back to their homes, which lay within the cordoned off stretch of road.
Police expect to release more information about this incident on Tuesday.
