Special Ed Teacher Sues Irvington District After Attack By Student

She said the student was known to have violent tendencies and that the district ignored her request to have him removed from the school.

IRVINGTON, NY — The Irvington School District, the Irvington Middle School principal and the director or pupil personnel services are being sued by a special education teacher who claims she suffered permanent personal and psychological injuries after being attacked by a student who was known to have violent tendencies. Clarice Martin said she was struck in the head March 16 by the student’s closed fist.

The lawsuit, which was filed Monday in State Supreme Court in White Plains, does not name the student, the Journal News said.

Martin said the district ignored her request to have the student removed from the school and that her injuries include post-concussion syndrome, inability to concentrate, speech impairment and more.
