Suspended License At Traffic Stop Soon Leads To Cache Of Coke, Fentanyl, Drug Trafficking Charges: NYSP

YONKERS, NY — A traffic stop in Westchester County uncovered far more than a few traffic violations, according to police.

On Monday, members of State Police Troop T, SP Tarrytown, and the Troop K Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 41-year-old Brad M. Columbus, and 37-year-old Danielle Marie Ostrom, both of Schenectady, on felony drug possession charges.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., troopers stopped a 2017 Honda Civic on the New York State Thruway (I-87) northbound in Yonkers. Troopers said that the driver, identified as Columbus, was driving without a valid driver's license.

During the investigation, troopers report finding glassine envelopes containing suspected fentanyl and approximately 2.3 grams of cocaine, along with several other varieties and amounts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to NYSP.

Columbus was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell; felony fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; six misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; and traffic violations .

Ostrom was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell; felony fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; six misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one traffic violation.

Columbus and Ostrom were arraigned in Yonkers City Court and released on their own recognizance.
