Two Ardsley Seniors Named 2015 National Merit(R) Semi-Finalists
Christopher Kim and Mauricio Pinto named Semi-Finalists

Ardsley, NY (September 10, 2014)— Two Ardsley High School seniors have reached the prestigious semifinalist level in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. Christopher Kim and Mauricio Pinto are among 16,000 seniors across the country whose high Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) scores earned them the designation, according to a press release from the National Merit Scholarship Corp.
About 1.4 million high school juniors from more than 22,000 high schools took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. All semi-finalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring.
“We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students. This recognition is a strong addition to their already outstanding records,” said Dr. James Haubner, Principal of Ardsley High School.

To become a finalist, students must complete an extensive scholarship application that discusses their academic record, participation in school and community activities, leadership skills and other honors and awards that they have received. National Merit Scholarship winners of 2015 will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July. These scholarship recipients will join more than 308,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
