Valentine's Day Dining: Prix-Fixe Dinner at Red Hat on the River

A special holiday meal priced at $75 per person will be served on Feb. 13-14.

At Red Hat on the River in Irvington, the six entrées on the weekend Valentine’s Day menu will range from Cioppino (an Italian-American fish stew) to prime aged New York strip steak. A dessert taster for two will offer five different sweet treats. The menu is available on Saturday/Sunday, Feb. 13-14.

Hors d’oeuvres start the meal and are followed by a choice of six appetizers including soup, salad, pasta and more. Cappuccino, espresso, coffee or tea is included in the cost of $75 per person (gratuity and tax are additional).

Several special cocktails will be available including a $14 “Saint Valentine” (muddled raspberry, Slovenia vodka, and St. Germain liquor.

Cioppino combines clams, mussels, seared Atlantic cod, shrimp and scallops in a lobster broth. The prime New York strip steak is accompanied by Brussels sprouts and Red Hat frites. The choices available:

  1. Rutabaga and leek soup
  2. Red Hat bistro salad
  3. Seared Maine sea scallops
  4. Mozzarella and fennel
  5. Pan-toasted ricotta gnocchi
  6. Brussels sprouts and fried egg warm salad

Entrées

  1. Cioppino (fish stew) with clams, mussels, seared Atlantic cod, shrimp and sea scallops in a lobster broth, fingerling potatoes, fennel-red pepper fondue
  2. Sauteed Atlantic fluke with roasted grapes, haricots verts, potato puree and hazelnut brown butter
  3. Grilled Scottish salmon with French green lentils, sautéed spinach, and pommery mustard-herb-shallot vinaigrette
  4. Pan-seared duck breast with crispy red potato, spinach and cherry-port wine sauce
  5. Short rib bourguignon: Prime beef braised in burgundy and port wine, pearl onions, cremini mushrooms, haricots verts, carrots, fingerling potatoes, olive oil, ciabatta toast
  6. Grilled prime-aged, New York strip with Brussels sprouts and root vegetables roast, Red Hat frites, red wine reduction, béarnaise sauce or chimichurri vinaigrette.

Dessert tasting for two includes:

• Profiterole
• Key lime pie
• Chocolate ganache cake
• Salted caramel gelato
• Gilda’s anise biscotti

Winter hours: lunch Monday through Friday (noon to 3 p.m.); dinner Monday through Thursday (5 to 9 p.m.), Friday and Saturday (4:45 to 10 p.m.). On Sunday, the dinner hours are 4:30 to to 8:30 p.m. Sunday brunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. End times are for last seating.
