WEATHER UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory Issued for the Rivertowns
We'll let you know when the first day of spring snow will begin, and what impact it will have on your work commute.

It’s only fitting after the winter we’ve had that snow is in the forecast for the first day of spring.
The National Weather Service has issued a “Winter Weather Advisory” for Westchester County communities for 6 a.m. on Friday to 2 a.m. on Saturday.
“Accumulations... 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts,” writes the NWS.

Both sides of Friday’s commute will be affected. “Timing... starting the Friday morning commute and continuing through Friday evening. Impacts... hazardous travel conditions due to reduced visibilities and snow covered roads.”
On the plus side, temperatures will reach the 40s by Saturday and again on Sunday, so whatever snow the region receives will largely disappear by the end of the weekend.

But the irony of snow on the first day of spring was not lost on the forecasting team at AccuWeather.com.
“Astronomical spring officially arrives on Friday, March 20, at 6:45 p.m. EDT, but millions in the Northeast will be slipping, shoveling or facing other problems due to snow,” writes AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. Friday marks a rare celestial trifecta.
“The storm threatens to slow travel and cause disruptions to daily activities from northern Virginia to central Massachusetts, home to approximately 45 million people, as the week draws to a close and the first weekend of spring begins,” Sosnowski added.
