What's In Your Lipstick? Find out this Thursday in Tarrytown. . . .

Our skin absorbs whatever we put on it -- from shampoos to deodorants to perfumes, makeup  and nail polish -- and the hundreds of synthetic chemical ingredients in these products can pose real health risks.  The FDA does not     require manufacturers to submit their products for third-party testing before they are permitted on the market and many of us are exposing ourselves to unnecessary health problems.
So, what is in your lipstick/eyeliner/mouthwash/cologne. . . ? And how do we stay safe when using personal products?  This Thursday, April 10 at 11:45 a.m. there will be a fascinating free public presentation by environmental expert Patti Wood at the Tarrytown Senior Center at the Tarrytown Train Station, 240 W Main Street.  The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns, who will provide beverages and cookies.  There is ample parking space and everyone is invited to bring a brown bag lunch.  Patti Wood is the founder of Grassroots Environmental Education which helps raise awareness of critical issues, promote emerging science, and provide practical alternative solutions -- like safe personal products (and there are many!).  Hope to see you there!
