Woman Offered Ride, Steals Car
A 22-year-old Long Island woman was charged with criminal possession of a Lincoln town car.
Maritza Lavergne, 22, of Central Islip, Long Island was arrested in Dobbs Ferry Tuesday for the alleged criminal possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of marijuana, police said.
At 1:45 a.m., police received a call about a suspicious person in a black Lincoln town car outside 150 Ogden Avenue in Dobbs Ferry.
After running the vehicle's plates, police realized it had been repoted stolen in Suffolk County.

"According to the owner of the car, he offered [Lavergne] a ride because she was wandering alone in the snow," said Dobbs Ferry's Lieutenant James Guarnieri. "When the driver stopped and went inside a store, she drove off in his vehicle."
Lavergne was also discovered to be in possession of marijuana. She was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, an E-felony, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. The car was impounded and the suspect was held overnight and arraigned in the morning.

The car is now being held at Giampiccolo Auto Body in Ardsley.
Guarnieri said Lavergne may also be charged with theft in the Long Island town in which he crime occurred.
