A Rochester woman was charged with trespass, and airport officials say the investigation is closed, with no additional breaches reported in 2025 or 2026 so far.
3. Rochester parents and educators react to Meta's $17 billion child safety settlement with 47 states (whec.com) — Rochester parents and school staff are weighing in on Meta's massive $17 billion child safety settlement, which will bring at least $812 million to New York for mental health support. Locals largely welcome new limits on teen social media use, including time caps, overnight bans, and fewer school-day notifications, though it's still unclear when the rules will take effect.
4. Pre-apprenticeship program boosts Rochester manufacturing pipeline (rbj.net) — A small but growing pre-apprenticeship boot camp is helping fill advanced manufacturing jobs for companies in Rochester and the GLOW region. Five recent graduates completed free classroom training in Batavia and paid co-op work with local employers, part of an RTMA-led effort that has already funneled dozens into full-time roles and apprenticeships.
5. URochester names inaugural AI leader (rbj.net) — A major leadership move at the University of Rochester puts artificial intelligence strategy under a new campus-wide chief, Mujdat Cetin, starting Sept. 1. He'll coordinate AI research, teaching, and workforce partnerships across UR, including the Goergen Institute, UR Medicine, and the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, with an eye toward regional employers and Empire AI.
