U.S. Marshals found the suspect hiding inside a bed on First Street, and he now faces attempted murder, assault, and weapons charges with court appearances scheduled this week.
• Child Care Council names new executive officer (rbj.net) — A Rochester-based Child Care Council leader has been formally named executive officer, continuing her role guiding services for families and providers across Monroe, Livingston, and Wayne counties. With decades of early childhood experience, she plans to strengthen partnerships and respond to evolving child care needs, which directly affect local parents, educators, and childcare centers in the Rochester area.
• MCC opens new advanced technology center for high-demand careers (13wham.com) — Monroe Community College has opened a major new advanced technology center in Brighton that will train students for high-demand jobs in Rochester's optics industry and the growing semiconductor sector. The $69.6 million facility consolidates key technical programs, offers hands-on labs, and is backed by state and county funding to strengthen the local workforce pipeline for Rochester-area employers.
